Follow the material.
Connect the records.
How source identity, production lots, stockpiles, samples and shipment references support qualification of Sherwan talc.
Several access points.
One recorded source.
Blanc Fixe’s Sherwan mine layout includes seven underground access tunnels in the Khandakhu locality. These are access drifts within the same mining concession and talc-bearing geological system.
Production is recorded by tunnel and assigned a lot reference. Keeping that reference through preparation helps connect source material with the lot evaluated for export.
A shared source does not remove variation
Access to the same formation establishes geological context. It does not make every extracted piece or prepared lot identical. Sorting, grade segregation and representative assessment remain important.
Keep the origin clear
This source description applies to the Sherwan Pakistan operation. Afghan grades are evaluated against their own source and supply documentation.

What connects a sample
to a shipment?
| Stage | Record connection | Buyer relevance |
|---|---|---|
| Extraction tunnel | Tunnel reference, extraction date and production lot. | Identify the origin of the recorded production. |
| Stockpile & sorting | Material movement, grade selection and prepared lot reference. | Understand which material was prepared for the order. |
| Sampling & laboratory | Sample identifier, collection record, preparation and applicable report. | Check what material the reported result represents. |
| Packing & shipment | Lot, packing and container or shipment references. | Connect the offered material and documentation to dispatch. |
Before approving supply, discuss which records will accompany the order, how material combinations are recorded and which lot each laboratory result covers.
Retained samples.
A common reference.
Our sampling approach uses increments collected across material to build a composite, followed by sample reduction and preparation for the intended tests. Duplicate or retained samples support third-party review and customer cross-checks.
Agree sampling coverage, reduction, preparation and retained-sample identification for the actual lot. The sample collected for routine colour testing may need different preparation from material intended for mineralogical or asbestos assessment.
