Sherwan geology
Explore the Pakistan source.
ExploreHow to compare Pakistan and Afghan talc without turning regional descriptions into product guarantees.
Country, locality, grade and shipment lot are different levels of identification. Sherwan describes a Pakistan source region; Merki Khel identifies an Afghan source discussed in our offering. Neither name supplies the full specification for an order.
Sherwan’s documented setting is dolomite-hosted. Regional Afghan studies describe talc–magnesite resources, but regional descriptions should not be applied automatically to every Afghan source or grade. Use mineralogical analysis to establish the phases in the material being evaluated.
| Requirement | What to specify or check |
|---|---|
| Optical properties | Use the same named measurement and agreed sample preparation; appearance of a lump is not a powder test. |
| Composition and LOI | Review chemistry and mineralogy together. LOI depends on method and associated minerals; it is not a standalone purity score. |
| Particle size | Compare actual feed sizes or finished powder distributions, with agreed methods. |
| Application performance | Trial the processed material in the intended formulation rather than ranking whole origins. |
| Asbestos evidence | Require evidence relevant to each source and sample. Do not transfer Sherwan results to Afghan material. |
| Supply economics | Compare delivered usable material, preparation yield, processing and logistics. |
Both origins should be evaluated against the same buyer brief. Select the material whose verified properties, processing behaviour and commercial terms fit your operation. A brighter sample is not automatically the best choice for every application.
