Merki Khel is an established talc-mining locality in Nangarhar Province, eastern Afghanistan, within the Spin Ghar mountain belt. The region contains metamorphic rocks including magnesium-rich dolomitic marble, schist and associated formations.
Geological studies of the wider Spin Ghar belt associate talc formation with alteration of magnesium-rich carbonate rocks by silica-bearing fluids. Talc occurs as lenses and bands, and mineral composition can vary between individual occurrences. Regional geology does not establish a fixed grade for all Merki Khel material.
Historical geological surveys and mining investigations document talc extraction around the Marki Khel–Ghunday area. These records establish a history of exploration and commercial mineral extraction, but do not establish current production capacity or remaining mineable reserves for a particular working.
Blanc Fixe Minerals evaluates selected material according to the intended industrial application. Grade selection, representative sampling and appropriate laboratory assessment help buyers consider mineral composition, optical properties, moisture and material size. Test results and any asbestos assessment must be tied to the specific source, sample and offered lot.
